The Qualitative Group had its first meeting today. Around 18 students attended many of who were first time attendees and some who have been coming for several years. Maria Lahman and Laura Summers the faculty sponsors were both there. Henry Wang the student representative went over how to register as a member of the website, how to customize your information, and how to post comments on the discussion boards. We hope members will start to post questions, information etc. at this time.

The group decided to have a thematic emphasis each month with a guest speaker and an article reading that will be discussed. This month’s discussion will be the methodology Portraiture. Laura Summers will speak on the topic on Sept. 21 at 11:30 in the 4th floor graduate lounge. Suggestion for discussion this semester included case study, interviews, analysis, and computer analysis software. Please let us know if you have other ideas for topics we can discuss this year. Also, we are looking for suggestions for speakers on these topics.
